SureFire, the Southern California designer and manufacturer of high-performance, compact illumination tools, has introduced a new version of its popular G2® Nitrolon® flashlight. The new G2 LED features a solid-state light emitting diode that generates nearly 25% more light—and runs an incredible 1200% longer—than the incandescent lamp used in the original G2.

The G2 LED produces 80 lumens of blinding, tactical-level light (more than enough to temporarily overwhelm an aggressor’s night-adapted vision) and runs for 12 hours on a single set of 123A lithium batteries. It’s nearly indestructible LED works in conjunction with a precision-machined reflector to produce a user-friendly beam, featuring a bright central spot with a gradually diminishing corona, that’s suitable for tactical, outdoor, and general-use applications.

As with the original G2, the G2 LED’s body is made of a lightweight, corrosion-proof polymer and features a slip-proof grid pattern for a secure hold in any weather. O-ring seals keep out moisture and dust, and an optically coated, tempered Pyrex® window ensures maximum light transmission while protecting the light’s reflector and LED emitter. Tactical tailcap switching allows for easy one-handed use, and a patented lockout tailcap prevents accidental activation during storage or transport.

At only 5.14 inches long and 4.1 ounces in weight, the G2 LED is compact and lightweight enough for everyday carry. And with an MSRP of £63.99, it’s affordable enough to keep an extra one on hand in a glove compartment, boat, or emergency-preparedness kit.

SureFire Torches is a Southern California based company that produces precision tactical flashlights commonly used in the law enforcement and military fields. SureFire flashlights are also popular in the civilian market for personal, occupational, and self-defense purposes. The lights are often seen in TV shows and movies, such as the television show CSI.

SureFire produces flashlights of widely varying sizes and power outputs. These range from the tiny Titan to the hand-held M6 Guardian. Most of the Surefire Flashlights are powered by lithium CR123A batteries that allow for compact size and low weight while offering high power output. SureFire produce their own brand of CR123As. Some of the flashlights are available with rechargeable battery packs.

SureFire torches and flashlights are primarily made of aluminum, usually mil-spec type II or III hard anodized finish in various colors. Some less expensive models are made from Nitrolon, a proprietary impact-resistant, non-conductive, glass-reinforced polymer.
